Arab Banks Awards & Commendations of Excellence 2022 The Awards ceremony was held at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski Hotel, Istanbul (Turkey) on Thursday, September 22, 2022, with the participation of high caliber Arab and Turkish banking leaders and personalities, as well as officials from regulatory institutions and international bodies and entities as well a Turkish Airways. The selection process was conducted by a committee of High-Level economists and banking professionals as well as the research department of the Union of Arab Banks and World Union of Arab Bankers. In his inauguration speech, Dr. Joseph Torbey, Chairman of the World Union of Arab Bankers and the Union of Arab Banks Executive Committee, and Chairman & General Manager at Credit Libanais Group S.A.L, welcomed the guests attending the Arab Banks Awards & Commendations of Excellence 2022 and said “Your Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to welcome you all to this evening of Initiative and Achievement Makers, and I have the pleasure to especially welcome H.E. Mr. Alpacan Cakar, Chairman of the Banks Association of Turkey, and all participating Turkish leaders and organizations. I would also like to welcome our dear guests from all Arab countries" Dr. Torbey added, “16 years since the founding of the World Union of Arab Bankers, during which it formed the artery that nourishes the Arab Banking industry, building creative, innovative and promising banking cadres. When we contribute to the preparation of banking generations fortified with knowledge, capabilities and expertise, we are then assured of the future of our banking profession”. Dr. Torbey continued, “Today, in this beautiful city, this celebration translates the strategy of the World Union of Arab Bankers in this field, where we are delighted to honor our banks and bankers who confirmed their presence on the Arab and International scene”. The World Union of Arab Bankers which was established in Casablanca in 2006, comprises today under its umbrella over 500 members from all over the Arab Banking sector. The Banking Executive magazine, the only English written magazine emerging from our Arab banks and Unions, has been shedding light upon the achievements of the Arab Banking sector and its leaders highlighting their successes and accomplishments for the past decade.
