Bank ABC Egypt BANK ABC EGYPT APPOINTS NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR AND CEO Bahrain-based Arab Banking Cor- poration (Bank ABC) revealed that Amr Tharwat has been appointed as the new Managing Director and CEO of its Bank ABC Egypt fran- chise. The appointment of Tharwat was approved by Bank ABC Egypt’s board of directors. He is expected to start his tenure on September 26th, 2021. Tharwat has over 26 years of expe- rience in local and regional corpo- rate and investment banking. He worked for HSBC for more than 15 years, of which he was the Head of Global Banking in Egypt for seven years, with the remaining years based in Dubai. He was the most recent Managing Director, Deputy Head of Global Banking, and Head of Corporate Banking MENAT for HSBC out of Dubai, the release mentioned. Moreover, he holds a masters de- gree in Finance from Cass Business School in London, and before that he graduated from the American University in Cairo with a major in Economics and a minor in Political Science. Bank ABC Egypt Chairman Yousef Al Awadi commented: “Amr brings a diverse strategic and operational perspective to Bank ABC Egypt. He has an excellent track record, and we are confident that he will be a great addition to our team in Egypt”. It is worth noting that Tharwat is joining Bank ABC Egypt amid the final stages of Bank ABC Group’s acquisition of BLOM Bank Egypt, which has been closed on August 11th, 2021.
