Arab Banks Awards & Commendations of Excellence 2021 The Awards ceremony was held at Salle Des Ambassadeurs, Jounieh– Lebanon on Friday 10th of December 2021, with the participation of high caliber banking leaders and personal- ities, as well as officials from regula- tory institutions and international bodies and entities. The selection process was conducted by a committee of high level econo- mists and banking professionals as well as the research department of the Union of Arab Banks and World Union of Arab Bankers. In his inauguration speech, Dr. Joseph Torbey, Chairman of the World Union of Arab Bankers and the Union of Arab Banks Executive Committee, and Chairman & General Manager at Credit Libanais Group S.A.L, wel- comed the guests attending the Arab Banks Awards & Commendations of Excellence 2021 and the celebration of the 15th anniversary of WUAB. Dr. Torbey said, “The challenges and circumstances that the world and our Arab region are going through did not prevent us from taking the decision, despite all health and political devel- opments, from commemorating the fifteenth anniversary of the founding of the World Union of Arab Bankers, and honoring our banks and bankers who confirmed their presence on the Arab and global banking scene, and whose achievements constituted an added value to the banking profes- sion”. On WUAB’s 15 years anniversary, Dr. Torbey said, “Today, the World Union of Arab Bankers completes fifteen years of its successful banking career, and we look to the future with confi- dence that is making its way steadily to achieve our limitless goals in build- ing advanced banking human capital as a solid foundation upon which the Arab banking profession is based.” Dr. Torbey added, “Today, the World Union of Arab Bankers and its maga- zine “The Banking Executive” are proud to honor the distinguished elite from the world of finance and busi- ness, in addition to humanitarian in- stitutions and personnel who were known for caring, spreading peace, serving the community and alleviat- ing pain without discrimination. There is no doubt that these achieve- ments are the result of positive coop- eration in which wise leaders and loyal bankers have contributed, and they all shared the story of this suc- cess”. ISSUE 156 DECEMBER 2021 the BANKING EXECUTIVE 55 The World Union of Arab Bankers which was established in Casablanca in 2006, comprises today under its um- brella over 500 members from all over the Arab Banking sector. The Banking Executive magazine, the only Eng- lish written magazine emerging from our Arab banks and Unions, has been shedding light upon the achievements of the Arab Banking sector and its leaders highlighting their successes and accomplishments for the past decade.
